Smoothie Sundays: PB&J Smoothie

PBJ Smoothie

Hi guys! I am currently in San Francisco, escaping the awful weather on the East Coast. Between Sandy and Athena, I’m starting to think there is some kind of conspiracy against our poor little section of the country. Luckily, we’ve been inches away from damage to our property not once, but twice- avoiding extensive leaking from the tar that got ripped off our roof from the heavy winds, and again this past week when a large tree branch splintered and fell due to the snow and landed 6 inches from my car.

Needless to say, this vacation couldn’t have come at a better time.

The weather is just gorgeous in San Francisco now- highs in the 60s and lots of sunshine. Plus the food scene here is incredible, one of the reasons I’ve come here 3 times in the last year or so. SF is without a doubt one of my favorite cities in the world!

But back to why you’re here.

This smoothie is designed to chase away the impending winter blues by taking a classic flavor combination and turning it into a delicious drinkable treat. Peanut butter and jelly, when combined, makes something more than the sum of its parts that has the power to make you feel comforted and at home, no matter where you are.

PB&J Smoothie
Serves: 1

  • ¼ cup oats
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • ⅓ cup peanut butter (or 2-3 heaping tablespoons, you can eyeball this to your preference!)
  • ½ cup frozen berries (or fresh, you’ll just need an extra ice cube or two)
  • 4-5 ice cubes

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

What’s your favorite comfort food when the going gets rough?

Happy Eating 🙂

    1. Hey Icy! you can use either quick oats or regular oats- I don’t cook them first though. I like that they add a little texture in their uncooked state. If you want to cook them though, that’s totally cool- Just make sure the oatmeal is cooled first before blending it with the other ingredients.
